God Is Our Peace

In the midst of this coronavirus pandemic, with the daily news of sickness and death, it can be easy to allow anxiety and worry to dominate us. The voice of fear is very prevalent everywhere we turn right now. The words of the enemy are lies and produce fear. Personally, I understand fear. I battled it off and on for years. As a child, I was tormented with fear and demonic visitations. When I was 13 I slept on the floor in my parent’s bedroom. I was so afraid that I wouldn’t even go out in public without my parents. I know what fear feels like. A very familiar feeling because of my experiences. Fear is a spirit. It comes from the demonic spirit realm and works to infiltrate our mind, emotions, and body. While this covid-19 circumstance is very real and burdening, we are called to live from a different voice and realm. The voice of faith and the realm of peace.

“whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm.” Proverbs 1:33

Whoever listens to the voice of God will dwell secure and will be at ease, without fear of harm. This is the time to rest in faith and peace. To close our ears to the fear and open our ears to the Word of God. Our God is a God of peace. We stand upon His presence of peace and His Word that releases faith into us. His Word is true and literally has the power to create faith. The Lord  desires for us as His people to be secure, at ease, and without dread during Covid-19. We are called to be bold and courageous! To be a people of faith and a people of peace. The peace of God comes from His Spirit. It is a fruit of the Holy Spirit that can tangibly influence our mind, emotions and body.

Matthew 8:23-27 “When He got into the boat, His disciples followed Him. And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being covered with the waves; but Jesus Himself was asleep. And they came to Him and woke Him, saying, “Save us, Lord; we are perishing!” He said to them, “Why are you afraid, you men of little faith?” Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and it became perfectly calm. The men were amazed, and said, “What kind of a man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?”

The disciples were afraid and had no power in the storm. Their fear silenced faith. Jesus was so full of peace that He slept in the storm and when He spoke to the wind and the sea they became perfectly calm. Like Jesus, when peace is in us, it can be released around us. When we have peace in a storm we can bring peace to the storm.  Jesus operates from a different realm. His realm exists beyond our dimension of time and space. It is the realm of the spirit and carries peace and faith. It supersedes our natural realm and has complete power over it.

In John 14:27 Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you; My [perfect] peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid. [Let My perfect peace calm you in every circumstance and give you courage and strength for every challenge.]”

Don’t let your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid! Jesus has given us His perfect peace. Let His perfect peace calm you and give you courage during this coronavirus pandemic. His peace is readily available. It’s a matter of feeding our ears with a different voice. Close your ears to the spirit of fear. It is a liar. Don’t let it tell you what to do. Feed upon His Word. Look upon Him in prayer and praise. Trust Him.

Isaiah 26:3 “You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.”

When we lock eyes with the prince of peace we will see our circumstances and our future through the perspective of His nature. The peace of God will guard our hearts and minds.

Philippians 4:6-7 “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

This says to be anxious about nothing. Not even the coronavirus. Anxiety and worry only come when we dwell on this present circumstance and think about our future situations without God’s presence in them. This doesn’t produce the hope and peace of God. Choosing to pray and give thanksgiving in the midst of this circumstance will create peace inside us, because prayer and thanksgiving always shifts our eyes off of the problem and onto Him (His person and presence).

Colossians 3:15 “Let the peace of Christ [the inner calm of one who walks daily with Him] be the controlling factor in your hearts [deciding and settling questions that arise]. To this peace indeed you were called as members in one body [of believers]. And be thankful [to God always].”

In every moment our heart is to be controlled and governed by the perfect peace of Christ. I know this is a time of uncertainty. This is a moment of challenge in our world, but Jesus is releasing grace to close our ears to the spirit of fear. Fear will make the storm around us become a storm inside us. Fear works to turn our inner man into wind and waves, but Jesus is the King of our heart. He is our prince of peace! He speaks and our soul becomes like still waters. His Word releases an inner calm that can not be shaken: Faith! Let it arise! Quietness and trust is our strength. Today let us rest upon the bosom of Christ and listen to His sweet Word flowing from His mouth. In Him is perfect peace. As we listen to His voice we will dwell securely, be at ease, and walk without fear.

This is my prayer for you today: “God of peace I ask you to give them peace at all times and in every way. Let Your tangible peace flood their spirit and mind. Fill their ears and heart with your Word! Let faith arise today. Release a fresh boldness in this time of uncertainty. Bind the chaos. Silence the fear. Let them become aware of your sweet presence and receive the inner calm that comes from your peace. I ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen. (2 Thessalonians 3:16)
