“For your Maker is your husband– the LORD Almighty is his name– the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth.” Isaiah 54:5
“And I will betroth you to me forever. I will betroth you to me in righteousness and in justice, in steadfast love and in mercy.” Hosea 2:19
God calls His covenant people His bride and says that He is their Groom! There is a bridal paradigm that is available to us as God’s people. It is a paradigm and realm of intimacy, a walk of pure and undivided devotion to Jesus as our Bridegroom. It is manifested in a passionate people who have singleness and focus for Him! Their attention and affection is set upon the Radiant One. They are full of adoration for Jesus and have an unquenchable appetite to know Him.
“For I am jealous for you with the jealousy of God himself. I promised you as a pure bride to one husband—Christ. But I fear that somehow your pure and undivided devotion to Christ will be corrupted, just as Eve was deceived by the cunning ways of the serpent.” 2 Corinthians 11:2-3
Towards the end of 2021 I had a series of three significant dreams that revealed the heart of the bridegroom to me and three contrasting conditions of the bride of Christ. I wrote about these dreams in my book Set Apart For Him that I released in 2022.
In the first dream I returned home after being away for a very long time and found my bride was now married to another man. This other man was also married to another woman. I found that my bride, the other women, and the man were all living in one house together. My bride and the other women were filled with great fear and shame because the other man was very cruel. He was abusive verbally and physically. I was overwhelmed with extreme righteous anger and I beat up and cast the man out.
A few nights later I had a second dream. I found myself in an office and my bride was flirting and showing physical affection to my elder brother right in front of me. I felt holy jealousy for my bride. I longed for her attention and affection.
The next night I had a third and final dream. In this dream, my bride was in a beautiful white wedding dress walking along an ocean shoreline. She was smiling and full of joy. She looked so pure and was in a state of extreme peace. She looked incredibly beautiful. She beckoned me to come to her by extending her hand to me.
I believe these dreams reveal the various conditions of the bride.
The first dream revealed those in the bride of Christ who have fallen in love with the present world and married it. Though they believe in Jesus and said yes to Him at one point in time, they have joined with the other women (the lost) to be married to the world. As the Bridegroom’s return has tarried, they have caved in and grown impatient for His return. They have settled in and become comfortable with tolerating the world and the works of the flesh. This has come as subtle compromises. Slowly, over time, these compromises have married them to the temporal world and now it consumes them.
1 John 2:15-17 says “Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh, the desires of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not from the Father but from the world. The world is passing away, along with its desires; but whoever does the will of God remains forever.”
The desires of the flesh, the desires of the eyes, and the pride of life have choked out and killed the bridal love for Jesus. The fascination with this temporal world has blinded many to the heavy yoke and bondage that the enemy has brought upon them. The spirit of the world has blinded and silenced their deep bridal cry for intimacy and affection for Jesus. They no longer use their voices to cry, “Maranatha! Come Lord Jesus!” They have fallen asleep and only lift up their voices for the latest things this world has to offer. They have found themselves bound in union to sin and wickedness. They have found themselves unable to desire the will of God. Jesus our bridegroom feels a righteous anger for all the works of evil that are ravaging these ones. He feels a hatred for everything in this world that is standing in the way of His people receiving and experiencing His pure and holy love. Our righteous Bridegroom is coming to His church in this hour to cast down and judge the cruel abuse from the spirit of the world and the works of the devil. For those who love the world and have found themselves swept up in its enticement and bondage, there is an invitation to come to Jesus now. There is time for repentance. Come to Jesus now and let His love cast down and remove every other lover in your life. The bridegroom is returning very soon and when He returns, all the things of this world will be judged and cast down. Make your home in Him now. Flee from the household of the cruel world. This system will pass away. But His kingdom will remain forever and those that are found doing His will will remain forever too. It is the lovers, His devoted bride that love and obey Him, that will remain in the last days.
“…the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to everyone. It instructs us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live sensible, upright, and godly lives in the present age, as we await the blessed hope and glorious appearance of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ. He gave Himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds.” Titus 2:11-14
The second dream revealed the bride that is swept up in unholy obsession with her service and ministry to the Lord. They are divided in their attention. Their ministries (the elder brother) have become idols and grooms that they love and adore. However, Jesus is jealous! He is a jealous God. He says, “You will have no others beside me.” He will not stand by as His bride gives her affections to her ministry instead of His majesty. He is jealous for all of our affection and attention. Those in the bride that have prostituted themselves with their giftings and ministry structures are being called back now, to come unto Him and to return to the first works. The first thing is to love the Lord with all their heart, mind, and strength.
“Do not worship any other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.” Exodus 34:14
Many have gone after other lovers. They have fallen in love with what they do for the Lord. Their brands, titles, and ministries have slowly taken the place of first love in their hearts. There is a great division in their affections. Many are serving two masters, God and mammon. They love the power, fame, and money that they find in their service for the Lord. Many of these started out with pure intention, and motivation. But over the years they have drifted towards loving the praises of people and the treasures found in their ministries. These wrong and misguided affections will not stand in these last days. There is time and a window open to repent and return to Him. Jesus is calling with holy jealousy. He is wooing and drawing shepherds and ministers back to the secret place, where true lovers will love Him through serving His precious people. Those that don’t heed the call to repent and return to their first affection and love for Jesus will be removed from their positions of authority, either through burnout, moral failure, or exposure. This is the mercy of God for these ones and for His people. He is jealous and Holy. In these days, removal from the ministry will in fact be the mercy of God for many as it will preserve their purity and lead to restoration of right motivation. There will be no more robbing His glory by drawing the body to themselves. Platforms aren’t for popularity, but for His presence and purposes. The ministry isn’t a circus show, but a Holy call to prepare the body for love and service to Jesus.
“Set me as a seal over your heart, as a seal upon your arm. For love is as strong as death, its jealousy as unrelenting as Sheol. Its sparks are fiery flames, the fiercest blaze of all.” Song Of Solomon 8:6
God is calling the bride that has forsaken their first love for the love of ministry to set Him upon their hearts and wear His love as a seal upon their arm. He is drawing and calling the bride to meet His strong and jealous love. It’s time to invite His fiery blazing love to consume every other lover and affection within. Let Him be first place.
The third dream reveals the pure and spotless bride that Jesus will return for. This bride will be readied by fire and prepared to meet her Groom. She will be washed white as snow in His righteousness and purity and will join with the Spirit to beckon her Groom to return! She is full of joy at the thought of His appearance. She carries the beauty of holiness and stands strong in the peace of God.
“Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready.”” Revelation 19:7
We are called to be a bride who has made herself ready for her Groom. These bridal ones cultivate a life of intimacy in the secret place and conform to His Holiness. They love Him, so they hear and obey Him. They have given their lives to one thing: Him. They have a contagious hunger for Him. They are radically on fire for Him and His purposes. They devote themselves to prayer, worship, and the word.
“The Spirit and the bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wishes take the water of life without cost.” Revelation 22:17
There is a groaning and intense longing from the Spirit, a calling out for Him to come, to see Him and know Him. This is the bridal call! It is the Spirit and the bride that say come! The bride made ready, is the one who arises with this single crystal clear cry on the earth! The voice of the bride will emerge in this last hour, from every stream and denomination across the earth, to cry out with one voice with the Spirit, “Come, Lord Jesus, come!”. This cry will get louder and louder in the coming days and will be heard in every nation by every tongue!
There is a deep bridal longing to be where Jesus is: whether in the secret place, in heaven, or in His return! The longing is so deep, sometimes beyond words. It is a longing to see Him face to face. This “Come” cry of the bride is devoted to the secret place, heaven, and His return. The bridal people love to get caught up into a throne room experience with Jesus. They long so intensely for Him that they desire to be where He is in Heaven. And it comes as a groaning for His return. They cry out “come” and long for his return because they can’t wait to see the one they have seen by faith, face to face! Whether the longing is the secret place, Heaven, or His second coming, it is all with the one desire to see His face. As the day of His return draws near, there will be a shift and focus on the bridal realm. A great emphasis will be upon the bride and groom.
“He who testifies to these things says, ‘Yes, I am coming quickly.’ Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.” Revelation 22:12-13, 20
These are the final red letter words of Christ in the Bible. He will return! He is coming and His purified and spotless bride shouts “Amen, come Lord Jesus!” She longs for His coming because she is in love with Him and she knows that He will make every wrong right. Jesus is coming quickly and He is returning for His bride. He isn’t coming back for an immature bride. He is coming back for a mature bride. A bride that is like Him. A bride that is readied, crying out for Him and bearing fruit.
