I speak first to myself. Any gain, revelation or teaching anyone even myself gets out of this is purely from the beautiful Godhead.
A disciples heart is constantly resting on the word of God. A disciple does not depend on his emotions, thoughts, feelings or circumstances but on the word. The word of God lives in us, Jesus Christ the living word rests inside of us so the entirety of Gods word is written upon our DNA. As it is written,
2Pe 1:3 “Everything we could ever need for life and complete devotion to God has already been deposited in us by his divine power. For all this was lavished upon usthrough the rich experience of knowing him who has called us by name and invited us to come to him through a glorious manifestation of his goodness.”
All we need has already been put in us. Again as it is written,
Psa 23:1-6 “A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever.”
Knowing this we fear nothing, nor strive for anything for we are his and he leads us in his will for us.
We cling to the word as it is our life.
Mat 4:4 But he answered,“It is wiritten, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
It is through the living word that I live. To an unbeliever the Bible is just dead text but when breathed on by the holy spirit it is living. Through this I can overcome all things.
Php 4:11-13 “Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”
Now how do we do this? Well in Colossians it is written,
Col 3:2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.
I often asked myself, how does one think on these things? If you try you might find it hard like I did. Was I to make up things in my mind to hold on to? Strive all day to think of good things? But I found its easier than it appears. If the text is dead without the living that comes from above than surely I must go up and then come down to eat of the word. If the word is a living heavenly word that comes straight from the mouth of God then I first must go to him to breath on the text in front of me. I wait patiently for his breath. And when I hear and feel the wind from his mouth I latch on and follow it to the letters before me and eat as they come alive to me. Then as I read his word and let it lap against the shores of my heart I meditate on them. I chew on every letter and word, sucking them dry of all nutrients as I live fully sustained by his word alone. In doing this I am putting into practice Mat 4:4, Php 4:11-13, and Col 3:2.
I also think that in doing this it is also how Romans 12:2 comes to pass in our lives.
Rom 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
The fight of faith is not won by striving, battling, or working. It is won by eating. Eat of the word and you will be filled and surely rest will follow. What follows the thanksgiving feast? A long nap and a restful night of sleep.
